TEHRAN, Sep. 22 (MNA) – Announcing the launch of seven new phases of South Pars gas field, Deputy Oil Minister said production of natural gas will increase by 100 million cubic meters this Iranian calendar year.

On Iran’s new plans to increase gas production, Roknodin Javadi stated that, “last year, phase 12 and parts of phases 15 and 16 became operational which on the whole added 100 million cubic meters to Iran’s gas production capacity.”

Reporting that during the current Iranian year, the opening of four new phases of South Pars has been put on the agenda, deputy oil minister asserted that, “phases 15 and 16 are ready to get launched and we have accomplished the entire process of this joint gas project including construction of buildings as well as installation of coastal and offshore sites.

Estimating that in October, two new phases of South Pars will get officially operational with the presence of the President, managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company noted that, “phases 15 and 16 are aimed to produce 50 million cubic meters of natural gas per day."

Reminding that after the launch of phases 15 and 16, phases 17 and 18 will also get fully operational until February, the official underlined that, “in addition, we will boost production from phases 19, 20, and 21 as well by the end of the year."

Stating that Iran’s gas production will rise by approximately 100 million cubic meters this year, Javadi concluded , “the development of all phases is expected to get accomplished in the next two years.”
