Iranian President Hassan Rouhani extended his congratulations to his Kyrgyz counterpart President Almazbek Atambayev on Kyrgyzstan’s National Day of Independence on August 31.
In the message, President Rouhani also hailed the good record of bilateral relations between Tehran and Bishkek, and voiced hope that ties would be promoted more than ever.
Rouhani also wished health and success for Atambayev and honor for the Kyrgyz nation and government.
"Historical and cultural commonalities helped deepen friendly relations between the two sides," read part of President Rouhani's message.
The Kyrgyz president leading a high ranking political and economic delegation would visit Tehran next week to explore ways of promoting mutual relations.
The Republic of Kyrgyzstan, is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordering Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It obtained independence from the Soviet Union on August 31, 1991.
