TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (MNA) - Italy plans to acquire the privileged position to become Iran’s first trade partner in Europe, said Italian Deputy Justice Minister, Cosimo Ferri, during a ceremony commemorating National Day of Islamic Republic of Iran in the Expo Milan.

During the ceremony last night participated by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Minister of Culturend Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati along with a group of Iranian officials and Italian figures, Italian Deputy Justice Minister said Italy seeks to return to its privileged position to become Iran’s gateway to Europe, referring the nuclear deal and the end of limits by West against Iran.
 
Stressing Italy’s attention to Iran and the opportunities ahead, he said our country wants to stand by Iran as a friend and supporter during this phase of international cooperation.
 
He also said that the Italian government is pleased with the nuclear deal made in Vienna on 4th July which revives the Iranian critical role in the region as well as the world.
 
We thank the Iranian President for his foreign policy, he said on behalf of Italian government adding that the recent visit by the Italian foreign minister as well as the minister of economic development demonstrates the Italy’s attention to Iran.
 
He also noted that the trade exchanges between Iran and Italy has previously reached to 7 billion euro. However, Italy wants to boost the exports during the new stage exceeding the year 2014.
 
Counting various economic opportunities in Iran, he noted that in addition to the energy, there are many other sectors on which Rome and Tehran can start their cooperation. This includes all fields from mechanical engineering to food chain, small and medium enterprises and professional expertise.
 
He also reiterated that the number of Iranian students in Italy rose from 387 to 2778 during the last decade and 64 agreements have been signed by the two countries.
