Iranian puppets to set off for Expo Milan

TEHRAN, Aug. 17 (MNA) – Nane Sarma, Mobarak, Amoo Norooz and Pahlevan Kachal, four Iranian traditional puppets are about to travel to Milan to perform in Expo 2015.

"These giant puppets which are about 5 to 6 meters tall, are designed by a group of Iranian artists who will operate them in Expo Milan," said Public Relations Office of Institute of Contemporary Arts Development.

The puppets are made of recycled materials including water bottles and they weigh 150kgs in sum. These giant puppets will move with music in Expo open space and will display the Iranian traditional rituals. The performances are aimed at familiarizing the kids and teenagers present in Expo with Iranian culture.

About four months after the beginning of Expo 2015 under the theme of “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” which has been participated by 145 countries in Milan and the performances given by 5 Iranian bands, the traditional Iranian puppets will host the audience of this International event thanks to Expo Milan Committee of Culture and Art along with Institute of Contemporary Arts Development.
