French embassy in Tripoli bombed, at least 2 injured

TEHRAN, Apr. 23 (MNA) – A car bomb has blasted the embassy of France in Tripoli early Tuesday, injuring two French guards and causing serious damage to the building, a Libyan security source said.

An AFP correspondent at the site said the wall surrounding the property was destroyed and the embassy building badly damaged. Two cars parked near the embassy were also destroyed.


Parts of the Embassy wall has been destroyed.

Russia Today reported that part of French embassy wall has been destroyed by the blast. A security authority in Libya said that heavy damage has been inflicted on the building, including the main venue of the embassy, and whole part of private venue wall has been destroyed.

Two cars belonging to embassy have been demolished totally.

No faction has accepted the responsibility for the blast yet. The bomb blasted 8 o’clock in the morning local time in Tripoli.


French embassy in Tripoli is located in Karkarsh neighborhood of the Libyan capital. An informed source said to Sky News that the house of Algerian ambassador located in
vicinity of the French embassy was also damage by the blast.

France condemns the blast

French government has issued a statement and condemned the blasts which rocked French embassy in Libya. Laurent Fabius, French Foreign Minister said that France condemns the blasts in its embassy in Libyan capital. French government has been in contact with Libyan government in all ways to get information of this despicable act, and identify the perpetrators as soon as possible, reads the statement.

Two French guards have also been injured, said the Minister, and that “ we wish them health and we communicate our solidarity with them.”


Libyan government says the attack terroristic

Libyan government has called the attack as terrorism and condemned it. Al Arabiya reported that security forces have been deployed around French embassy since the blasts. This report is being updated.
