‘Strategic Plan’ by Bashar al-Assad for Syrian crisis: speculation

‘Strategic Plan’ by Bashar al-Assad for Syrian crisis: speculation

TEHRAN, Jan. 5 (MNA) – Informed sources have predicted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will give an important speech within few days on his views about Syrian crisis and possible solutions for it.

Among the important parts of Assad’s plan is ‘his nomination for presidential elections in Syria in 2014 along with other candidates’, which has not yet been disputed. Other points in his plan as his attempt to solve Syrian crisis include the following, which will be called ‘Geneva 2’ Plan, if an agreement is built upon:

  • Ceasefire between fighting sides is held
  • International observers arrive in Syria to monitor the implementation of ceasefire
  • Constituent Assembly is formed to redraft Syrian Constitution
  • National coalition government is formed
  • free parliamentary election is held , monitored by international supervising body

Assad’s speech on regional developments

Informed sources predict that ‘strategic’ speech by Assad is not the only solution provided by him for Syrian crisis, but they believe that president will address the critical issues in the region, and provide a full view of region’s problems closely linked to regional stability and peace.

Also the same sources have speculated that the time of speech is dependent upon variables, the first being ‘ current developments underway in Syria’, through which Damascus would demonstrate its eligibility and ability to decide on Syria’s future, and if armed rebels have come to power in some region, this would not hold true in long-run, and they would never overthrow Assad’s government, unless foreign military intervention help them, which is also improbable and impossible; since any such intervention would receive strong response by Russia, China, and Iran, who have so far been strongly opposed any such approach by Syria’s enemies.

On the other hand, the US officials have come to this conclusion that they would not and cannot overcome Takfiri armed active groups in Syria, and US intelligence services have convinced that their policies have failed, and that Takfiri groups implement a plan in Syria which has brought havoc on US more than Syria’s current state would do.
