The plan was hailed by many countries such as Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Lebanon, South Africa, Brazil, etc., but the Opposition rejected any intervention by Iran in Syria, and ruled out the dialogue before Assad’s stepping down.

Some sources had it that Turkish and Qatari pressure is effective in Opposition rejection of the plan, for these countries want Iran outing as a major player in Syria.

The Opposition did claim that Iranian plan is to protect Syrian independence and citizens, and that Iran may play a major role in securing Syrian national interests, but only it seizes to support Assad politically and economically.
