Iran marks U.S. embassy seizure

TEHRAN, Nov. 4 (MNA) – Hundreds of thousands of Iranian students held rallies on Friday across the country to mark the 33rd anniversary of the seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran, which occurred on November 4, 1980.

 

In Tehran, students held a gathering in front of the former U.S. embassy, which is also called the Den of Spies, on November 3, one day earlier to the “13th of Aban” since this year the event coincided with celebration of Eid al-Ghadir - the day on which Imam Ali (AS) was appointed as successor to Prophet Muhammad (S).
