Iran, Tajikistan Sign Athletic Memo

TEHRAN, July 6 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran and Tajikistan inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Dushanbe Sunday to bolster athletic cooperation.

Iran's National Olympic Committee Secretary General, Bahram Afsharzadeh, and his Tajik counterpart inked the memorandum in the capital of Tajikistan with the aim of cementing the Olympic move.

   

On July 4, Iran and Cuba signed an MOU on development of bilateral cooperation in sport sector.

   

Ahmad Edrissian, Iranian ambassador to Havana, Humberto Rodriguez Gonzalez, head of Cuban Sports Organization, reached the agreement on Friday night.

   

Gonzalez expressed hope the memo helps boost bilateral athletic ties.

   

The Cuban official said sport is a means that links peoples, adding that he is certain that the two nations of Iran and Cuba will cement their real friendship by this means.

   

“Tehran-Havana relations have been fortunately reinforced during the recent years,” said Edrissian.

   

The visits by Iranian and Cuban presidents and ranking officials to each other's country are the striking examples for development of bilateral ties, added the ambassador.
