Baqaii appointed VP for executive affairs

TEHRAN, April 9 (MNA) -- In two separate decrees issued on Saturday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed Hamid Baqaii as the vice president for executive affairs and the caretaker of the Presidential Office.

Baqaii, who is currently the director of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization, replaced Presidential Office Chief of Staff Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaii, who was also temporarily in charge of the affairs of the vice president for executive affairs.

Baqaii will retain his post as the CHTHO director.

Following is an excerpt of the decree in which Baqaii was appointed as the vice president for executive affairs:

Given your competence, qualifications, knowledge, and management skills, and according to Article 124 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, by this decree you shall be appointed as the vice president for executive affairs.

It is hoped that you will be able to help accelerate the implementation of executive decisions through close cooperation with the first vice president, ministers, and other vice presidents.

Another decree read, “Given the importance of the affairs of the Presidential Office and its close correlation with the affairs of the vice president for executive affairs, and given the trust I have in you, I appoint you as the caretaker of the Presidential Office.”

In the decree, Ahmadinejad also expressed appreciation for Mashaii’s efforts and services during his term in office.
