TEHRAN, Sept. 18 (MNA) – El Observador newspaper of Uruguay quoted Uruguayan President Jose Mujica as saying, “Uruguay and Iran have good relations and his administration pursues the utmost strengthening of this relation.”

IRINN quoted the president saying that this relation is beneficial for both countries.

 He added that his country will always stand shoulder to shoulder with honest, deprived and downtrodden nations of the globe.

 Not long ago Uruguay’s Parliament Speaker Ivonne Pasada expressed her country’s eagerness to make use of Iran’s experience and scientific advancement and noted that exchanging delegations between the two countries could expedite this process.

 She said, “Uruguay wants to expand and deepen ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields, especially economy and trade.”

 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also referred to Uruguay as a key country and called for increasing relations with that state.

 He said that the people of Uruguay are dear for the Iranian nation and government all efforts should be made to make relations between the two countries as cordial as possible.
