According to a statement issued by AFJO on Wednesday, the military court issued rulings calling for prison terms, payment of blood money, lashes, cash fines, and temporary suspension from duty in the cases of nine other men. The court also exonerated one person of all charges.
However, the court’s rulings are not final and shall only be enforced in line with due legal procedures.
The convicts have not been identified and the details of the trials have not been made public.
The Kahrizak detention center came into the spotlight after it was revealed that three inmates were beaten to death there. Mohsen Rouholamini, Mohammad Kamrani, and Amir Javadifar were the three men who died at Kahrizak.
The three victims had been detained during the post-election unrest in 2009.
The Kahrizak detention center, located south of Tehran, was closed on the order of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei because it was substandard.
On the Tehran University dormitory incident of June 15, 2009, the AFJO statement said that after the post-election unrest spread to the dorm complex and public property was destroyed by a group of rioters, who also clashed with security forces, the police, with due observance of the regulations, entered the dormitory complex to restore order.
Unfortunately, during the operation, a group of vigilantes made their way into the dormitory complex, broke into the dorm buildings, and beat a number of students, the AFJO statement added.
