Rls.18,000b Earmarked For Transport Sector in Budget Plan

TEHARN Jan. 4 (Mehr News Agency) – The national and provincial credit allocated for transportation sector is projected to be Rls.18,000 billion in the budget plan for Iranian calendar year 1383 (March 20, 2004- March 21, 2005).

A member of Development Commission of Majlis in an interview with Mehr News Agency said that with the agreement of the Management and Planning Organization (MPO) a reasonable volume of credit has been specified for the construction and development of roads, freeways, bridges and railways as well as completing and equipping semi-constructed airports.

 

Mohammad Abbaspur added that the allocated credit would be dispensed for development of the road and railroad network in order to connect the transportation network of the country to the neighbor countries including Iraq, Syria, Turkey and the commonwealth countries.

 

Referring to the road accidents which claim the lives of over 22,000 individuals every year, he said that no measures has been taken so far in order to reduce the number of road accidents which afflict the country with billions of Rials damage.

 

He finally expressed hope that the transportation fleet as well as transportation network of the country get improved in coming years, leading to lower death tolls in road accidents.
