Iran unveils electric Samand car

The electric model of the Samand can run at a speed of 140 kph and can be recharged within 15 minutes.

Using this type of the car would reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels.

The Samand is an Iranian car brand manufactured by Iran Khodro (IKCO). Samand trade name is now registered at the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The Samand production project began in 1996 and the first car was sold in 2000. The Samand inherits the title of Iran’s national automobile from the Paykan, which was sold by Iran Khodro from 1967 to 2005.
