Pakistani Embassy commemorates Kashmir Solidarity Day

TEHRAN, Feb. 7 (MNA) -- The Pakistani Embassy in Tehran held a ceremony on Saturday to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

The Kashmir Solidarity Day ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Sajid Bilal.

 

The Kashmir Solidarity Day messages of the Pakistani president and the prime minister were read out to the audience after a recitation of the Holy Quran.

 

In his address to the gathering, Mr. Bilal paid tribute to the valiant people of Kashmir, who have made many sacrifices in their struggle to attain their inalienable right of self-determination. He stated that Pakistan is committed to working for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

 

He went on to say that the support of Pakistan and Iran, which are two of the most powerful countries of the Islamic world, can help the Kashmiri people attain their right to self-determination.

In their speeches, Iranian scholars Dr. Reza Mostafavi and Dr. Mohammad Baghai and Tehran Times journalist Hamid Golpira highlighted the plight of the Kashmiri people, saying the Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people. Mr. Nasir Yamin Mardokhi and Dr. Mohammad Hossein Tasbihi presented poems in support of the Kashmir cause and the just struggle of the Kashmiri people.

A documentary focusing on the history of the Kashmir issue and the sufferings of the Kashmiri people was also shown to the audience.

 

The function was attended by a cross section of Iranian scholars, academics, intellectuals, and media representatives, members of the Pakistani community in Tehran, and Tehran University students.
