26-year-old Ramin Pourandarjani was doing his military service as a doctor at the Kahrizak detention center.
According to the forensic medicine organization of Iran, the cause of Pourandarjani’s death was a drug overdose, and traces of some pills were found next to his salad, Jafari Dolatabadi told reporters.
The latest findings show that he died of a drug overdose, he added.
Jafari Dolatabadi said that on the day of the doctor’s death, the person who took Pourandarjani’s meal to his room found the door locked, but the doctor then opened the door, took the meal, and again locked the door.
He went on to say that the investigation will continue in order to find out whether Pourandarjani was murdered or committed suicide.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said nearly all the people arrested on the sidelines of the rally commemorating the anniversary of the seizure of the U.S. embassy have been released and only four or five people still remain in jail.
Over 100 protestors were arrested on the sidelines of the rally held in Tehran on November 4.
