Iran to dispatch two more aid ships to Gaza

TEHRAN, Dec. 29 (MNA) – Iranian Red Crescent Society director Massoud Khatami announced on Monday that Iran will soon dispatch “two more ships” to the Gaza Strip.

Iran sent its first ship loaded with 2,000 tons of humanitarian aid for Gaza on Monday.

The three ships will carry Iranian people’s aid to the people of Gaza, he told the Mehr News Agency in Tehran.

Khatami’s remarks came amid reports that an Iranian plane carrying humanitarian relief aid had arrived in Cairo early Monday.

“The Red Crescent has comprehensive plans to provide relief aid for the Palestinians,” he said.

The Israeli air strikes against the Gaza Strip have created a humanitarian catastrophe.

Before the recent Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip Iran had been trying to find a way to help the Palestinians besieged in the costal strip, the official pointed out.

He also said after the Iranian plane landed in Cairo, Iran expressed “complete readiness” to transfer the wounded Palestinians who were hospitalized in Arish, half way between Egypt and Israel, to Iran but Cairo did not accept.
