$180m Worth of Weaving Machineries Imported

TEHRAN Nov. 4 (Mehr News Agency) – In line with efforts to improve its textile industry, Iran has purchased necessary weaving machineries worth of $180 million, said managing director of Textile Industries in the Ministry of Mines and Industry here Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Golnar Nasrollahi added that the amount was provided from exchange funds.

“Recently, there have been remarkable investments to renew the industry,” she stated, adding second-hand machinery can not be effective in the renewal process.

Structural reforms in the industry regenerated numerous productive units, which had been brought to standstill.

“Great improvements have happened in the industry since the beginning of reforms,” she added. State-run manufacturers demonstrate more serious problems in comparison with those run by the private sector, Nasrollahi said.

Iran should arrange practical plans to ameliorate its textile industry so that it would be capable of competing in global markets, she stressed.
