US Vice President J D Vance meet Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad ahead of ceasefire negotiations
Sharif welcomed the constructive engagement and expressed hope that the talks would lead to lasting peace and regional stability.
The White House announced that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were also present at the meeting.
High-profile Iranian officials also met Sharif and other top Pakistani officials as they hold indirect talks with the US.
Before Sharif met with the American delegation, an Iranian delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, had met and held consultations with him.
