Armenia calls for strategic partnership agreement with Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 25 (MNA) – The prime minister of Armenia has announced his country’s willingness to sign a strategic partnership agreement with Iran, emphasizing the strong relations between the two neighboring nations.

“Our relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are at a very high level, and we are willing to sign a strategic partnership document with Tehran as well,” Nikol Pashinyan told reporters on Thursday, responding to a question from Armenpress about expected developments in 2026 and the possibility of such an agreement.

Pashinyan noted that cooperation with Tehran is steadily expanding, adding that a new agreement could further strengthen bilateral ties.

According to Armenia’s Azat TV, the initiative aligns with Armenia’s recent foreign policy priorities, reflecting Yerevan’s commitment to cultivating relations with diverse international partners and pursuing a multidimensional diplomatic approach.

The outlet added that a strategic partnership with Iran would represent an important step in Armenia’s foreign policy, underscoring its intent to enhance regional cooperation while maintaining balanced relations with other global partners.

Such an agreement, it said, could pave the way for deeper economic and diplomatic engagement and contribute to regional stability and growth.
