TEHRAN, Oct. 01 (MNA) – A massive fire broke out at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl on Wednesday morning.

On the morning of October 1, a fire broke out at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl. A massive column of smoke was visible from a distance, according to Russian media outlets on Telegram.

Residents report that a giant column of black smoke rose over the city in the area of Moskovsky Avenue.

A large-scale fire was recorded in the area of the enterprise and was visible from a distance. Videos and photos from the scene of the incident are being shared on Russian social media.

According to official data from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), the signal about the fire was received at 06:28 a.m. local time. The official causes of the fire have not yet been announced. Information regarding the extent of the damage and possible casualties is being clarified.

At the same time, the governor of the Yaroslavl region stated that the incident was not related to a drone attack and was of a "technogenic nature."
