Tunisians protest attacks on Gaza aid flotilla

TEHRAN, Sep. 25 (MNA) – On Wednesday, Tunisian citizens held a demonstration to protest the targeting of the global “Sumud” flotilla aiming to break the blockade of Gaza.

Participants in the protest condemned the attacks on the global Sumoud flotilla and called for international protection of the fleet.

The global “Sumud” convoy, consisting of more than 50 ships, set sail from the port of Barcelona, Spain, in early September, with the goal of assisting the people of Gaza and breaking the blockade of the strip. Gradually, additional ships from different parts of the world joined the convoy.

On Monday 12 drone attacks targeted 9 boats of the Sumud flotilla. The network reported extensive flights of a number of drones over the boats of the flotilla.

In response to these attacks and threats, on Wednesday morning, an Italian rescue and relief ship was dispatched to protect the Sumud flotilla. Spain also announced it would send an “operational naval ship” from Cartagena to the eastern Mediterranean to safeguard and assist the Sumud convoy on its way to Gaza.
