Incident reported for Tanzanian vessel in Persian Gulf

TEHRAN, Sep. 24 (MNA) – An Iranian maritime official has said that a Tanzanian-flagged vessel declared state of emergency in Iran's southern waters in the Persian Gulf.

The deputy director general of Ports and Maritime of Hormozgan Province in southern Iran told local Iranian media that after the Tanzanian-flagged vessel "Duba Sana", which was sailing from the port of Ras al-Khaimah in the UAE to the port of Shuaiba in Kuwait, was half of its hull saturated by water in the sea 2 miles south of Kish Island.

Rescue forces dispatched rescue vessel No. 16 to the scene of the accident and rescued all nine crew members and they are now safe and sound. 

The vessel's cargo included 2,500 tons of white cement as the cause of the accident is being investigated by maritime experts, the Iranian official said. 

According to the latest reports, the vessel is in a half-sunken state (severe tilt) and the owner is taking necessary measures to prevent complete sinking.
