34 arrested during pro-Palestine protest at Texas University

TEHRAN, Apr. 25 (MNA) – The number of pro-Palestine protestors who were arrested during a demonstration at the University of Texas has risen to 34, authorities said Wednesday.

"As of 9 p.m., 34 arrests have been made by law enforcement on the UT Austin campus related to today’s protest," said the Texas Department of Public Safety on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The students staged a walkout to demand the university divest from weapons manufacturing in connection with Israel. The demonstration turned violent after Texas Department of Public Safety troopers intervened in the gathering, Anadolu Agency reported.

The demonstrations are part of nationwide campus protests in solidarity with Palestine which demand the educational institutions divest from companies that are doing business with Israel.

Israel waged its brutal war on besieged Gaza on October 7 after Hamas carried out an unprecedented operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed over 34,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured more than 77,000 others.

Israel has imposed a complete siege on the densely populated territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
