Reporting on his Monday trip to Syria, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on X that he had important talks with President of Syria Bashar Assad, the Foreign Minister of the country, Faisal Mekdad, and national security advisor to Syrian president Major-General Ali Mamlouk in Damascus.
In addition to discussing regional and global developments, especially the issue of Palestine and Gaza, the agreements of the two countries' presidents were conferred and the development of bilateral relations, including economic ones was evaluated as satisfactory, Iran's top diplomat stated.
He noted that accompanied by the Syrian Foreign minister, they opened the new building of Iran's consulate in Damascus, adding that they also visited a young diplomat of the Syrian Foreign Ministry who was seriously injured during the recent terrorist attack by the Zionist regime.
Amir Abdollahian added he had held a meeting with hardworking and devoted Iranian diplomats, representatives of Iranian organizations, and Iranian military advisers for anti-terrorism in Damascus and their families in the Embassy compound.
He said the he was so proud of the high morale and the hardworking Iranian diplomats and military advisors in Syria who are there fulfilling their duties despite all the hardship there.
Heading a political delegation, the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Damascus from Muscat on Monday.
Amir-Abdollahian along with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad visited the residence of the ambassador and the building of the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, which was the target of a rocket attack by the Zionist regime last Monday.
Seven of Iran's military advisers in Syria and six Syrian citizens were martyred in the Zionist Israeli regime's terrorist attack. The foreign minister said while in Damascus that the Iran's response to the Israeli attack on the consulate is certain thing.
