A strong magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit 29 km away from Mazar-i-Sharif, Balkh, Afghanistan, in the early afternoon of Sunday.
The incident occurred at 3:50 pm local time (GMT +4:30), according to VolcanoDiscovery.
The quake had a very shallow depth of 10 km (6 mi) and was reported felt by some people near the epicenter.
No further details regarding the possible damage have been released so far.
