The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan on Wednesday, where he arrived to hold bilateral talks with Armenian officials.
Reaffirming the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, Amir-Abdollahian pointed to Iran's historical and important relations with the neighboring country and said, "We will keep and improve our relations with Armenia day by day. Today, we agreed on deepening the various aspects of the relations between the two countries."
"We strongly support lasting peace in the South Caucasus region," he stressed.
"Iran is ready to pursue the approach of strengthening the North-South transit line at a faster pace,"
"Achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus without the intervention of foreign powers and through regional guarantors can bring high benefits to everyone," he added later in his remarks at the presser.
"Today, we also discussed the issue of Palestine with our counterpart, and using this opportunity, I would like to emphasize and warn the United States that if the Americans seek to save face and exit from the genocide in Gaza, they should immediately stop their extensive military support to the Israeli regime and do not hesitate in that regard," he added.
"Eighty days of genocide is a repetition of the failure of the Israeli occupying regime on October 7, and I would say loudly to the US: Don't continue the experience of defeat and go back home and let the people of Palestine and Gaza decide their own future," the top Iranian diplomat further said.
