The Iranian experts are able to construct the nuclear power plants, the minister told the reporters, adding, “The Energy Ministry has held negotiations with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) in this regard.”
The ministry will make efforts to set up the nuclear power plant in the first half of the upcoming Iranian year, Fattah noted.
He further said that Energy Ministry has also signed a contract with the AEOI for supplying the country’s nuclear fuel.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Fattah referred to the ministry’s contracts made in this Iranian year, saying, the contracts have been signed with Syria, Lebanon, Armenia, Iraq, Georgia, and Tajikistan.
He also stated, according to the new policies, the Energy Ministry is moving toward the privatization of power plant construction. For power generation, it has taken the policy of privatization as well. Citing the examples, he named the contracts on production of 14,000 MW and 5,500 MW electricity on the BOO and BOT methods respectively.
Moreover, the ministry prioritizes the private sector’s participation in water and dam-building sectors, he noted, adding, no huge hydroelectric power plant will be made out of the governmental capital from now on.
In conclusion, Fattah explained that the ministry pays due attention to the development of the renewable energies since they are more economical compared with the fossil fuels. He added that the contract on production of 250 MW electricity out of the renewable energies have been made in the past seven months.
