Envoy calls for closer cultural coop. with Russia

TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (MNA) – Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei called for closer cultural cooperation with Russia within the framework of a cultural committee that has recently been formed between the two sides.

Sanaei made the remark while in St. Petersburg to take part at the 7th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

The envoy noted the recent visit of Iranian Minister of Culture Abbas Salehi to St. Petersburg, and his subsequent meetings with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Medinsky, voicing hope that the visit would accelerate cultural cooperation between the two sides and help the implementation of cultural projects.

He also added that the meeting between Salehi and Medinsky led to the signing of an agreement on cultural cooperation.

Sanaei then noted the agreements reached between the two sides during the visit of governor of Isfahan province ot St. Petersburg, and stressed that conditions are ripe for further cooperation given the rich culture of St. Petersburg, and the activities of Iranianologists and Orientalists.

The VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum kicked off on Thursday and wrapped up on Saturday, attracting thousands of experts in the field of culture from all over the world.
