GORGAN, Jul. 30 (MNA) – Head of Environmental Protection of Hamedan province said Monday that a 'common buzzard' has been released into the wild life of Razan city.

Majid Eskandari announced the release of a bird of prey called common buzzard, in Razan city of Hamedan province, after some public reports received regarding the storage and sale of a 'common buzzard' in the village of Sardrood in Razan city.

The preprator was handed over to the judiciary, he underlined.

Birds of prey are at the peak of the food pyramid and play an important role in controlling the population of reptiles, rodents, and even some animals of the family Canidae.

Under Article 13 of Hunting and Fishing Act, anyone who tries to capture, hunt, sell, buy, carry, keep or smuggle birds of prey such as falcons, barbary falcons, saker falcons, and common kestrels can be sentenced to a maximum jail-term of three years and up to $2,724 in fines.
