Iran finishes fourth at Asian weightlifting meet

TEHRAN, Sept. 30 (MNA) – Iran ranked fourth at the 37th Asian Senior Men’s Weightlifting Championships in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on Friday.

With an asset of six golds and five silvers, Iran won 474 points, following champion Kazakhstan, runner-up China, and third-placed Thailand, which garnered 557, 527, and 497 points.

 

 

Asghar EbrahimI representing Iran in 94kg class snatched three golds and his teammate Hossein Rezazadeh, the world and Olympic +105kg record holder, added three golds.

 

Rezazadeh was named “Weightlifter of Asia in 2005.”

 

The undisputed world champion vowed to improve his own record in the world event.

 

Iran’s five silvers came as Ali Dehqanian stood second twice in 96kg category and Mohsen Biranvand finished runner-up in snatch, clean-and-jerk, and total standings.
