Former IRIB head to run for presidency

TEHRAN, Mar. 16 (MNA) – The former head of Iran’s IRIB Seyyed Ezzatollah Zarghami announced on Wednesday that he will run in the upcoming Presidential Election as a rival to President Rouhani.

Seyyed Ezzatollah Zarghami, who headed Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) between 2004 and 2014, announced his candidacy for the upcoming Presidential Election.

“With the goal to correct the mega management of the country, respond to the honorable demands of the people and to solve their problems I accepted the invitation of the People Front of the Revolution with commitment to the collective decision of them as a key to success,” reads Mr. Zarghami‘s message published on his account on one of social media websites.

The news was spread on Iranian news website afterward, while many political analysts believe that President Rouhani is to a greater extent undefeatable in the election of 2017.

Iranian are scheduled to cast votes on May 19, 2017 at the 12th Presidential Election after establishment of the first democracy of the country after the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
