New generation of IKCO’s Samand to hit Russian streets

TEHRAN, August 3 (MNA) – A new generation of Samand car, called ‘Samand Shomal’, will be exported to the Russian and other CIS markets. Some technical changes along with a new face-lift are made to satisfy both buyers’ taste and environmental standards. The Samand Shomal will soon be on assembly line, a fax released by IKCO’s Public Relation Dept. reported.

“Russian market is an intact one and we are determined to acquire higher share of this market by offering quality automobiles at suitable prices,” stated the managing director of IKCO Manuchehr Manteqi, emphasizing, that the Russians have shown interested in Iran’s best-selling passenger car.”

 

“The annual production capacity would be at 5,000 automobiles, and based on the anticipated projection. The product will enter the Russian market in early spring of 2006,” he further commented.

 

IKCO, in order to have a foothold in Russia, has acquired 11 essential standards to make Samand compatible with climatic conditions, quality standards and environmental regulations of Russian Federation.

 

“The most important features of Samand Shomal can be noted in changes made in interior trimming and suspension steering system. The ABS system, convertible top, air bag, and other auxiliary equipment are also of other significant traits of this model,” he elaborated.

 

He also asserted that the company has the capability of designing and making production lines compatible with the market requirements of any region. Furthermore, the company has informed the Russians of its readiness to export design and engineering services to that country by the assistance of IKCO’s Center for Design and Development of New Products, the fax concluded.
