Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi announced that "following the ill-considered statements and positions of British officials on Iran's role in the Syrian crisis, the country's charge d'affaires was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Friday, in the absence of the British ambassador to Tehran."
He added that the deputy director general for West Europe affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed Tehran’s strong protest at the thoughtless remarks and false accusations of British officials against the Islamic Republic warning such measures would bear devastating impact on the humanitarian situation in Syria, peace and international security.
Bahram Ghasemi underlined that deputy director general, pointing to Iran’s policies and measure to establish peace and stability in Syria and to provide humanitarian aid to the people of war-stricken country, urged the British government to cut any assistance and support for terrorist groups.
