The agreement was inked on the sidelines of the 11th Trade Promotion Organization Network World Conference and Awards (WTPO) held in Morocco.
Mojtaba Khosrowtaj, President of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) and Arancha Gonzalez, Head of the International Trade Center inked the MoU.
The deal pursues several aims including mutual cooperation in defining the national export strategy, comparative study of performance and activities of Iran's TPO with similar organizations in the world, planning and implementation of practical training courses for Iranian commercial attachés in target markets, capacity building for SMEs in the field of market analysis and business intelligence information as well as joint business training collaborations.
It is estimated that expansion of relations with ITC, as the focal point in the UN system for technical cooperation with developing countries and economies in transition in trade promotion and export development, will play an important role in understanding global markets for goods and services as well as taking advantage of experiences of successful countries in development of foreign trade.
Attended by over 150 representatives from all around the world, the 11th edition of the Trade Promotion Organization Network World Conference and Awards (WTPO) was held in Marrakesh of Morocco on 23-26 November, 2016.
President of Iran's TPO Khosrowtaj delivered a speech at the conference addressing barriers and solutions of entering the global value chain.
Also on the sidelines of the conference, the Iranian official held joint meetings with his Swiss, Spanish, Canadian, Australian and Malaysian counterparts.
ITC is the joint cooperation agency of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) for business aspects of trade development and provides trade-related technical assistance.
