Rouhani condoles with Thailand over death of monarch

TEHRAN, Oct. 15 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani on Sat. condoled with the royal family, government and people of Thailand on the death of their king, Bhumibol Adulyadej.

President Rouhani, in a statement, maintained that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always considered Thailand as a friend and partner, and expressed hope for further development of relations between the two countries.

Mr. Adulyadej died on Thursday at the age of 88, after a 70-year reign that is considered the longest in the world. His death sparked nationwide grief and Thai government declared a year-long official mourning period while a Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn has been named as successor.
