“The enemy is trying to get closer to us to inflict damage to the country,” said Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, the Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces, on Thursday in a ceremony to commemorate the martyrs lost in action at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at the Chief of the Staff of the Ground Forces, “we have to be shrewd and watchful and never trust them.”
The General recounted that while in the pre-Islamic-Revolution era the world was divided into two blocs, Iran was a base for Americans to control the spread of the former USSR and the Islamic Revolution of 1979 foiled all the hopes of the imperialists but that was not the only blow of the Revolution to the US as the doctrine of anti-colonialism, anti-exploitation, independence, and liberty were strengthened by the victory of the popular Revolution of 1979. He stressed that the fear for the spread of these values forced the enemy to muster all its efforts to counter and eliminate the Revolutionary system.
“After these plots, the arrogant bloc of the world encouraged Ba’athis and their neighboring states to act against the Revolution,” underlined the commander, “and rewards and awards were offered to Saddam to dare to attack Iran.”
He warned the audience that currently the enemies of the revolution have launched a ‘soft warfare’ against the youth of the nation and increasing the awareness is necessary at the time.
