Political dialogue can settle regional issues

TEHRAN, Sep. 13 (MNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the regional issues can be solved through political dialogue and by regional states.

In a phone conversation with Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, on Monday, Rouhani felicitated his counterpart on Eid al-Adha.

The regional issues should be solved and settled by the regional countries and merely through political negotiations, dialogue and understanding, he underlined.

Rouhani stressed that Islamic Republic will spare no efforts to extend political solution to the regional issues, and every single country should work in this area.

Pointing to the expansion of extremism, violence and terrorism in the region, Rouhani expressed regret that the Middle East is not in a good state.

"We are responsible to save Muslims from the threat of terrorism and to establish stability in the region and reinforce fraternity among Muslims," he noted.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, also extended his congratulations to President Rouhani on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Adha and for his part said Tehran and Doha have always maintained cordial and deep-rooted relations.

He underlined that Qatar welcomes the expansion of special ties with Iran in all fields.

Qatari Emir underlined that Iran and Qatar must hold ties to resolve complicated problems in the region.

He pointed to the importance of improving dialogue between Iran and the Persian Gulf littoral states, saying the existing problems must be settled by regional states, not foreign powers.
