Execution of terrorists rightful act: Boroujerdi

TEHRAN, Aug. 08 (MNA) – Senior Iranian MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Mon. the execution of a number of terrorists in the Islamic Republic has been a rightful decision.

Head of Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the remark in response to a question by Mehr News correspondent about the recent execution of a number of terrorists and spies in Iran and the reason for the undue oppositions against it, adding “if the West was really concerned about human rights, why did they not object to the barbaric massacre of Yemeni people by Saudi Arabia that has been ongoing for 16 long months?”

Noting that at least 5,000 Yemeni children have lost their lives since the Saudi invasion, he said “this shows that the West is not concerned with human rights; if that was the case, they would not have backed terrorists such as ISIL and al-Nusra Front in Syria and Iraq.”

Boroujerdi stressed that ‘this human rights scandal’ in Iraq and Syria has been brought about by the US and its European and regional allies, adding “they are worried about the lives of the terrorists that we have rightfully executed.”

According to the Islamic laws, retribution punishment is an explicit divine order and the execution of the terrorists has been a completely logical course of action, he added.

He went on to add, “the act is completely justifiable both according to Islamic laws and also in regard to the fight against terrorism which the world claims to support.”

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry on Wednesday confirmed the execution of 20 convicts, belonging to a terrorist cell, that had carried out terrorist attacks in western Iran. The charges, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman, included “attempting to establish a Takfiri terrorist group, armed assaults inside the country, killing civilians and assassinating some Sunni Muslim clerics, supplying various types of fire arms, making explosives and planting bombs in different parts of some cities.”
