Qazvin incident caused by IRGC ammo-loaded truck explosion

TEHRAN, Jul. 22 (MNA) – The Thursday incident on Zanjan-Qazvin highway was caused by explosion of an IRGC-owned truck carrying artillery shells for one of the units of the Iranian force, IRGC spokesman said Thursday.

Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif told Mehr News that one of the trucks that was carrying artillery shells belonging to one of the units of the Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) crashed into the guard rail due to a tire burst and exploded upon impact.

“Safety measures were immediately put into action to prevent damage to moving vehicles,” Brig. Gen. Ramezan Sharif said, adding “fortunately, with cooperation and assistance from those present at the site, no one sustained any injury expect for a police officer who sustained minor injuries during the operation.”

A truck carrying military ammunition caught fire on Thursday evening after running into a guard rail on Takestan to Zanjan highway. According to Emergency Response Center of Qazvin, the explosion caused no casualties and the two slightly injured have been treated back to health.
