Syria demands end of coalition bombings

NEW YORK, Jul. 02 (MNA) – Syria demanded on Friday at the General Assembly of the United Nations the end of the bombings against its territory by the coalition headed by the United States, because of the negative impact on the population and the civil infrastructures.

During a session on the Fifth Review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, Syrian ambassador Bashar Jaafari, denounced that the air attacks are destroying houses, schools, bridges and refineries in his country.

"We wonder if the bombings are against the ISIL or against the Syrian people", he stated.

Since September 2014, aircraft from the Pentagon are launching bombs and missiles against the Middle East nation, with the pretext of neutralizing the Jihadists.

Jaafari warned that such actions violate the Charter of the United Nations and International Law, lacking the approval of the country concerned.

According to the diplomat, no alliance or measure against terrorism will be effective if it ignores the states hit by the scourge, in this case Syria.
