“More than 127,000 tons of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) of Iran was exported in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2015- March 21, 2016), and it is expected to have a much higher number as the production has been surging,” said the Manager for Imports and Exports of National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company (NIORDC) Esmail Hasham Firouz to the media on Saturday.
He recounted that land transporting of the LPG cargos is currently brokered at Iran’s bourse market, but the marine transportation of the product is prioritized in the agenda of the company.
“There were some long term contracts signed in last year which were brokered via bourse, and will expire on September. They would be negotiated to be sold under new terms via sea,” said the official.
He added that under the new terms, the buyers are responsible for the provision of the vessels, and as it is not an easy thing to do, it would be discussed with the partners. He also named Afghanistan and Pakistan as the major customers of Iran LPG in the region.
Hasham Firouz also broke the news that new cargos of Iran-produced liquid petroleum gas (LPG) are being shipped via tank containers to three African countries of Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa.
