Masoumeh Ebtekar, who is in South Korea to attend the Asian Leadership Conference, received an honorary doctorate degree from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies during a ceremony on Tuesday.
The university’s President Kim In-chul bestowed the degree on Ebtekar, saying the selection of the head of Iran's Environmental Protection Organization for receiving the honorary degree was in line with the efforts made by Ebtekar in a bid to improve cooperation on global peace and perseverance of environment.
Ebtekar maintained that in such dire environmental conditions, it is imperative for all countries to arrive at a common awareness on their human duties, and science and technology can play a pivotal role to achieve this end.
Ebtekar heading a delegation arrived in Seoul Monday night to attend the 2016 Asian Leadership Conference that convened in the South Korean capital this morning. The conference will wrap up on Wednesday.
Ebtekar is scheduled to hold a meeting with South Korean President Park Geun-hye.
