A report released Monday by Turkish Armed Forces indicates that 178 ISIL members were arrested in January, while 81 ISIL members were arrested during the first three weeks of February.
Over the past 21 days 33 members of the extremist group were arrested as they tried to enter in Turkey and 48 as they tried to cross over into Syrian territory.
The number of arrests so far this year is higher than the number registered in the same period of 2015. In total, 1,220 terrorists were captured in the last 14 months, the report added.
The Syrian government and international political analysts accuse Turkey to contribute to the strengthening of the ISIL and other terrorist groups acting against Damascus.
