Iraq forecasts Ramadi liberation from ISIL control

BAGHDAD, Dec. 20 (MNA) – Defense minister of Iraq Khaled Al-Obeidi forecasted on Saturday that the army and security forces will liberate soon Ramadi, capital city of the Al-Anbar province, from the control of the terrorist group ISIL.

Al-Obeidi said that the joint actions of the Armed Forces and the Iraqi federal police, along with the fighters from local groups, began military operations to recover Ramadi and are about to release it from the control set by Takfirists.

Ramadi was totally occupied by ISIL in May, following the withdrawal of governmental troops, as they had done a year ago in Mosul and Tikrit, capital cities of the northern districts of Nineveh and Salaheddin, respectively.

However, fighting between forces supporting the Government and ISIL tightened today in other places in the western province of Al-Anbar, where governmental forces try to cut off sources supplying IS from Syrian territory.
