In 98-kilogram, Iran’s Ghasem Rezaei defeated his American opponent 3-0 in the second round. In the third round, he also managed to knock out the Ukrainian wrestler 10-0.
Ghasemi went on to defeat Russian opponent 3-0 in the quarter-final and managed to advance to the final bout by defeating Estonian wrestler 6-0 in the semi-final.
The German wrestler Peter Oehler failed to show up for the the final round against Ghasemi, thus securing the gold medal for the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler.
The Poland Open, Ziolkowski & Pytlasinski 2015 wrestling tournament opened in Warsaw on July 24 and will wrap up on July 26.
Prominent wrestlers from various countries, including Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Poland, Romania, Russia and Turkey, are taking part in the international event.
On Friday, the national Iranian freestyle wrestling team also received four medals, including two golds and two bronzes, at the Poland Open, Ziolkowski & Pytlasinski 2015.
