Negotiations may continue past Thursday

VIENNA, Jul. 09 (MNA) – As Zarif and Kerry wrapped up talks on Thu. and one of Iranian negotiators is preparing to leave Vienna tonight, it seems the possibility of reaching a nuclear deal today is very unlikely.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry wrapped up the Thursday nuclear talks in Vienna at 11:00 AM local time (1:30 PM Tehran time.)

Meanwhile, Iranian negotiator and Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi is planning to leave Vienna tonight to attend the funeral of his mother-in-law on a one-day trip back home.

Ravanchi will reportedly return to the Austrian capital early Saturday.

Although some media channels have speculated that the negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group of countries would reach a conclusion today, it appears that the remaining unresolved issues are likely to necessitate the extension of talks for a couple of more days. Also, the foreign ministers of China and Russia are currently in the Russian city of Ufa for attending the Shanghai summit.

While the talks is reaching its final stages, both sides have been expressing optimism that they would soon settle the last hurdles blocking a final nuclear deal.
