Zarif calls for unity against terrorism

MOSCOW, Jun. 4 (MNA) – Iran’s FM met with his Tajik counterpart and called for unity in fight against terrorism.

According to Iran’s embassy in Moscow, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with his Tajik counterpart Aslov Sirojidin Muhridinovich on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting and the High-level Conference “Security and Stability in the SCO Region.”

During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister urged more bilateral ties especially in terms of fighting against terrorism which is threatening different regions of the Middle East and Central Asia.

Touching upon the common historical grounds between the two nations, Zarif voiced hope for development of economic ties and added that there is more to see of Iranian companies in Tajikistan after the resolution of some minor problems.

He also highlighted the importance of Tajikistan’s security for Iran and called it beneficial for the whole neighboring countries.

The Tajik Minister for his part welcomed Iran’s interest in developing ties and extending cooperation with Tajikistan and appreciated Iran’s concern over his countries security.

Listing the threats menacing Tajikistan, Aslov Sirojidin Muhridinovich asked for Iran’s support in reference to drug producers, drug trafficking, and Takfiri terrorists.
