Bitumen production to rise by 600K ton

ABADAN, May 24 (MNA) – With a new factory opened in Iranian city of Abadan, Iran’s bitumen production increased 600,000 ton.

A new oxidized bitumen production factory was put into operation on Sunday in Abadan in a ceremony attended by Ali Rabiee, Iran's Minister of Labor.

The project was started in March 2010, and got completed with nearly 16 million dollars of budget in 2015.

The new factory adds 1,900 tons to daily production of bitumen in Abadan and as a subdivision of Pasargad Oil Company the biggest bitumen producer in Middle East, the new plant increases the company’s annual output by 25 per cent.

The area is to see more development in near future as projects of increasing bitumen storage, dredging the loading dock, and new packaging system are on the way.

Expressing hope for better employment condition for the youth, Ali Rabiee hailed the improvement in oil related industry as a jumping board for boosting employment rate in the area.

Iran as the 7th producer of bitumen in the world, exports to 25 countries in Middle East, Africa, South-Asia and Europe.

Oxidized bitumen is produced by passing air through the penetration grades. This process gives the bitumen more rubbery properties than its original formula and they are simply harder bitumen.
