Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi attended a closed session in the Parliament today to brief the MPs on Swiss Statement regarding Iran and the 5+1 nuclear talks.
In an interview with Mehr News, Iranian Member of Parliament Gholamali Jafarzadeh said, “Mr. Salehi's comments on Iran’s technical and scientific capabilities to achieve nuclear technology was an honor to us.”
“Dr. Salehi, while outlining Iran’s nuclear capabilities, ensured that US and the West had no choice but to negotiate with Iran,” Jafarzadeh said.
On the remarks made by Iranian FM Zarif during a closed session in the Parliament, Jafarzadeh also said that foreign minister believed that “the religious Fatwa of Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khamenei bans building a nuclear bomb, not sanctions.”
According to the MP, Zarif has reiterated that the world had to sit at the negotiating table with Iran, adding that Obama's recent remarks was in line with a psychological strategy to soothe the hardliners in Congress.
